Will Carius launched Barrister and Mann in 2013 out of his tiny apartment in Boston, MA. Inspired to try traditional shaving because of his extremely sensitive skin, he soon found a following for his wonderful soaps and fantastic fragrances. And now he has upped his game yet again with a reformulated Glissant base that lathers even better (is it possible?). And, of course, new scents to keep you coming back for more.
This is Barrister and Mann's new Excelsior soap base. This is a company that never rests on its laurels (although they can claim more than most). They have continued to innovate and improve. This tallow-base is a significant upgrade from the Glissant base, says Will. It hits the best of all the bases. It lathers similar to Reserve, lasts longer than Glissant and is less finicky about water. This base DOES contain lanolin, so those with sensitivities should be aware.

Barrister and Mann is very excited to announce the debut of our brand new Valentine's Day fragrance, Ravish!
Inspired by the richly opulent fragrances of the Roaring 20s, Ravish is a classically elegant blend of orange, lemon, bergamot, lavender, sandalwood, myrrh, benzoin, labdanum, cinnamon, and vanilla. Perfect for date night, sure to turn heads.
As an aside, no, you don't need new glasses; Ravish will be available in polypropylene jars! We're switching our jar supplier to the nice folks at Parkway, who supplied our jars some years ago, in order to be able to produce stock on a more reliable basis, prevent shattering, and avoid production bottlenecks, so expect to see more of our soaps available in polypro jars in the future!
